The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Mrs. Edna Hedden age 64 of Blairsville who passed away on Wednesday evening, August 14, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Louise Hitch Knight, 87, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 8, 2019. She was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia, on November 1, 1931, to Frank Hitch and Agnes Martin Hitch. She graduated from North Georgia College in 1951. Lou married Gordon E Knight in 1956. For many years she lived in Atlanta and worked for General Services Administration of the Federal Government until her retirement in 1993. She then worked for The Arthritis Foundation. In 2001, she moved to Blue Ridge. Lou loved cats, the color blue, reading books, working crossword puzzles, and her church. She had a great sense of humor and could light up a room with her smile. Lou is survived by her daughter, Marilou Knight (Rebecca Williams) and her daughters in love, Pam Garrett and Denise Ellwanger. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on September 7, 2019, at the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM. To honor Lou, please wear blue and cat items. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of your choice and to Georgia Mountain Hospice.

Mr. Jackie Lee Keys, age 67, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at his home. Jackie was born February 27, 1952 in Young Harris, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. James and Ida (Shook) Keys and his older brother, Junior Keys. He was the beloved father of daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Russell Fleming from Jacksonville, Florida and son, Daniel Keys of Young Harris. He is also survived by sisters, Geneva Hamilton of  Young Harris, Dorothy (Gary) Ellis of Hayesville, Ettie Sue Long of Young Harris, Ruby Smith of Young Harris; grandchildren Alexa Keys (Alexa said she lost her best friend), Hayli Phillips, and Kendra Fleming; and great grandchildren; Aiden, Brooklyn and Connor.

Mr. Frontz Christian Goring, Jr., age 98, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on  July 29, 2019 at Brasstown Manor. Frontz was born in McComb County, Michigan on July 20, 1921 to the late Frontz Emil and Eleanor Mary (Boehmer) Goring. Frontz was a member of Union Hill United Methodist Church and the local VFW. He served in the Army and Air Force. While in the Army, he taught radar technology. Frontz enjoyed staying active with sports, two of his favorites were golfing and baseball. He played in a VFW Golf group and also played baseball in the position of a pitcher and was known for his fastball. He also spent his time as a 4-H leader for the horse club. He was an artist, using many mediums to display his talent. Frontz was a wood carver, bowl turner and leaded glass creator. While his wife was in Chatuge Nursing Home, Frontz made sure to still take care of her and feed her three meals a day until she passed away in 2006. After moving to Brasstown Manor, Frontz found that he enjoyed playing cards with the ladies. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mason Lucas Goring and brother, William Edward Goring. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ed Kerner; sister, Eleanor Knowlton; grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Tammy and Mike Dockham Jr., and Renee and Robert Hinesley; great grandchildren, Ashley Dockham, Aaron and Ashley Hinesley, Ryan Dockham, Chelsea Hinesley and Alicia Hinesley. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Union Hill United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Burch Cemetery. The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces a Memorial Service for Mr. Lester Deaver of Blairsville who passed away on Sunday evening, July 21, 2019 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home where remembrances will be shared by those in attendance. The family will receive friends from 11 am until the service begins. Interment will occur at a later date at Ivy Log Baptist Church Cemetery.

This is the story of Beatrice Edith (Lemon) Tremblay. Beatrice was an amazing woman, mother, grandmother and daughter who was very much loved, is already missed and will be forever cherished.
Beatrice’s story started in the small town of Ware Massachusetts where on May 24, 1924 she was born the second to the youngest to Arthur and Louise Lemon. She lived her life in the same town, the same house until after graduating high school, she left to attend nursing school in Boston Massachusetts. Here is where she met the love of her life having been set up on a blind date with the brother of one of her patients. It was a whirlwind romance and ended with her flying to where her betrothed was stationed in Denver Colorado to get married. It was a standing joke in our household as to how she chased him down and how, on the very day they got married, Roland, her now husband and flight engineer in the Air Force took flight and crashed. After three days, she finally learned of his safety and they went on to have four children and their first home in Marlboro, Mass.
Beatrice was known for her positive attitude, winning smile, and love for her family and friends. She was strong willed and a fighter to the very end. She passed peacefully at her home in Mineral Bluff, Georgia on December 1, 2019.
She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Roland Tremblay and her son, Roland Tremblay Jr. She is survived by her three daughters and their partners, Donna Tremblay and Christine Kohl of Holly Springs, Georgia, Paula Tremblay and Melissa Morrissette of Mineral Bluff, Georgia and Shari (Tremblay) Evans and husband Daniel Evans of Blairsville, Georgia along with two grandchildren, Jonathan Evans and Aysel Tremblay.
Committal Service to be held in the chapel of the Henry Cochran Funeral Home in Blue Ridge Georgia on Friday, December 6 at 2 pm. Interment to follow at the Crestlawn Cemetery in Copperhill, Tennessee.

Mr. Ralph Marshall, age 91 of Young Harris, Georgia passed away Friday, September 20, 2019. Ralph was born in Ducktown, Tennessee in 1927 to the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Hettie (Emerson) Marshall. He was a member of Woods Grove Baptist Church which he loved dearly. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Ralph married the love of his life, Elizabeth Burch in 1955 who he absolutely adored and patiently cared for during her illness. He was a hard worker, a  machinist at Lockheed and then Major Tooling prior to retiring. Retiring for Ralph really did not slow him down; he spent his time gardening, woodworking, building their home in Young Harris, reading and watching the news. He had a soft, giving heart, that led him to donating to many charities. He loved pets and always had a cat or a dog or two. Ralph was a sweet devoted husband, loving father and truly loved everybody. He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Burch Marshall and eight brothers and sisters.  He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law David and Cheryl Marshall of Naperville, IL; daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Robert McNabb of Flowery Branch, GA; son Daniel Marshall of Dahlonega, GA; son and daughter-in-law Rodney and Emma Marshall of Young Harris, GA; grandchildren Chad and Eric Marshall, Jessica Bruckner, Jess McNabb, Katie Watkins, Sarah McNabb, Samuel McNabb and Stephanie Marshall; great-grandchildren Keegan and Madison Watkins; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mr. Ronnie London, age 65, of Dacula, Georgia, who passed away on Saturday, September 14th, 2019.

Born to Harold and Betty London on August 29, 1954 in Atlanta Georgia, Ronnie saw the world through different eyes. He saw people through different eyes. He was more than just kind and generous. He truly believed that there was good buried deep in the heart of us all. But sometimes it took time to get that good dug out of people’s lives. In that, he loved like Christ loves. Truly believing that people were deserving of another chance. And then another. And then another. Without end. What a simple thought. What a simple thing. But the truly deep things are always hiding in plain sight within the simple acts of love we so easily pass over. Ronnie had that part figured out. So we will miss him for this and for his quick wit, his easy nature, his contagious laugh and his good, good heart. Heaven’s gate swings wide for a man like Ronnie.

He will be warmly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: Mother, Betty London; Sister’s, Charlene L. Davis and Darlene London Merritt; Nephew, Jamey Merritt; Niece, Stephanie White; Great Niece, Samantha McPherson; Great Nephew, Daniel White; Great- Great Niece, Lyric McPherson; and Five Cats: Woody, Chester, Nova, Chevy, and Harley. Special mention of Tony Vaughn & Darrell Dillon. Thank you for being there for Ronnie all these years. Ronnie was preceded by the love of his life and wife of 37 years, Laverna A. London; his father, Harold London; and brother, Dennis London.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th, at 3:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home before the service starts, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiawassee.

Helen Stiles, age 69, of Andrews, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019. Mrs. Stiles was born March 8, 1950, in Brasstown, NC, to the late James Mark Scroggs and Genevie Stamey Scroggs. Mrs. Stiles was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She also enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles. She was preceded in death by her father, James Mark Scroggs, mother,Genevie Stamey Scroggs, and brother, Clifton “Whitey” Scroggs.

Survivors include: husband, Faron Stiles, son, Michael (Pamela) Scroggs, daughter, Christi (Mike) Reighard, daughter, Misty Stiles, sisters, Ellen Afonso and Nancy Rogers, brothers, Sherdon Scroggs and Duke Scroggs, grandchildren, April DeHart and Corey Scroggs, great-grandchildren, Azlyn DeHart and Brylon DeHart.

Brian Burnette age 42, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019. Taken from his young life much too early. Brian was born on July 10, 1977, in Decatur, Ga. He had several jobs over his lifetime, but his favorite was driving tractor-trailers over the road. He loved those big trucks. He enjoyed watching wrestling and singing to the radio. He is survived by his wife Teresa Burnette, sons, Jeffery Burnette and Joseph Burnette, father James (Betty) Burnette, mother Faye (Mike) Bailey, sisters, Mandy (Kevin) Norton, Lisa (Jace) Gibbs, Janna Bailey, brothers, Chris (Karen) Mull, Chris (Sarah) Bailey, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be missed but never forgotten. The family will receive friends at the Henry Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Ga. Mrs. Pauline Thomas Sosebee, age 74 of Blairsville, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at her home. Mrs. Sosebee was born August 11, 1944 in Blairsville, GA to Gus and Dolly Stephens Thomas. Pauline was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Zebulon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Sosebee and a grandchild, Tracy Holder. Pauline had a wonderful sense of humor and was fun to be around. She would always make you smile. She loved her family. Pauline enjoyed Country Music and working word puzzles. She liked long walks and working in her flowers. Survivors include: daughters, Lisa Sosebee(Travis) Nichols of Young Harris, Sheila Sosebee (Jeff) Holder of Blairsville, and Jennifer Sosebee (Charles) Benton of Danielsville, GA, 4 grandchildren, Joshua Benton, Nolan Lee, Clay Pickelsimer and Gage Holder and one great grandchild, Abigail Lee. Many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 5th in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Terry Sosebee and Minister Terry Stuart officiating. Music will be provided by Jason Pickelsimer and Robert Duckworth. Mr. Jack Walter Housley, age 87, of Epworth, GA, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning, July 30, 2019. Jack was born on July 15, 1932, in Epworth, GA, to the late Lester G. & Naomi Galloway Housley.
Jack retired from Tennessee Chemical Company in the late 1980s and went on to also retire from truck driving in 2007. He enjoyed gardening, Nascar and community work, as well as, a special devotion to his family and his church. He was awarded the honor of a fifty-year pin from McCay Lodge #423 F&AM and served as a deacon for Bethel Church for over thirty-eight years. He greatly enjoyed singing with Bethel Choir and being an active part of the bus ministry. Jackie goes on to be with his parents as well as his brothers, Jerry Housley and Jim Housley.
He will be remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Shirley Qualls Housley; Children, Jackie Housley, Diane West, Rick Housley, and Andy Housley; brother, Max Housley, and sister, Bobbie Jean Phillips. Also sharing in his legacy are ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at Bethel Church on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Doug Payne, officiating.
