UPDATED: Hiawassee female questioned in Clay County murder; second subject sought

HIAWASSEE, Ga. – A female residing in Hiawassee city limits is currently being interviewed by Clay County, NC investigators, seeking information in connection with a murder.

Dakota Wilson, sought for questioning by authorities

Hiawassee Police Department and Towns County Sheriff’s Office responded to the female’s residence earlier this evening, May 31, prior to transport for questioning.

UPDATE, 6/1, 9:20 a.m.: Clay County Sheriff’s Office informed FYN that a press release is expected at the beginning of next week. “Detectives have been working on the case since Tuesday and following up on leads,” the North Carolina law enforcement agency said. FYN has opted to retain additional information, including the identity of the victim, until an official statement has been issued.

Authorities reported that a second male subject, Dakota Brett Wilson, fled from the residence, avoiding law enforcement.

Wilson, 22, is described as between 5’5 to 5’8 in height, weighing between 150 to 180 pounds, with short brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on Wilson’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.

Wilson is wanted in Towns County, GA and Cherokee County, NC on prior warrants, authorities said.
