UPDATED: Female subject injured in alleged break-in at local restaurant

HIAWASSEE, Ga. – FetchYourNews (FYN) received information regarding an incident which occurred Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at Hawg Wild BBQ and Catfish House.

According to a credible source, a female subject, who was allegedly under the influence of intoxicants, attempted entry into the restaurant by breaking a window, setting off an alarm. Upon attempting entry into the establishment, the subject is said to have sustained a substantial leg injury due to the manner of passage.

FYN was advised that the female suspect allegedly had two prior encounters with Towns County Sheriff’s Office earlier in the day. The subject is said to have out-of-area warrants from a jurisdiction unwilling to extradite.

FYN contacted Towns County Sheriff’s Office to gain further insight into the situation. According to law enforcement, the subject is currently at a medical facility due to the injury incurred during the incident.

Towns County Sheriff’s Office states that additional information will be released once family members have been notified.

UPDATED: FYN has learned the subject is Michelle Renee Harper, 39, of Fitzgerald, Ga.

Harper was charged with one count Criminal Damage to Property upon release from the medical facility.

The case will be referred to Enotah Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Harper is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
