Man arrested after traffic stop in Towns County

PRESS RELEASE – Towns County Sheriff’s Office issued the following press release.
On April 1, 2023, a Towns County Sheriff’s Office deputy executed a traffic stop on State Highway 339, in front of the Towns County Detention Center.
Prior to the stop, drugs were thrown out of the vehicle’s window.
A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in an amount of Cocaine, which field tested positive from inside the vehicle.
The drugs thrown from the vehicle also field tested positive for Cocaine.
Evan Dean Vilardo, age 35, Franklin, NC, was arrested and charged with:
- Felony Possession of Cocaine
- Felony Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
- Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle
- No Registration
- Littering
Sheriff Ken Henderson commends our deputies for their drug and crime suppression efforts. Based on continuing drug complaints, these efforts will continue.
