Towns County Boys Set To Play Rabun County In Day 2 of the Battle Of The State Tourny

(Towns County, GA) – – Strong shooting and good ball control led the Towns County Indians to a 65-to-47 win over the Coosa Eagles in the final game of Day 1 in the Battle of the States Basketball Tournament. Coosa tried to box out the lane with 2-3 match-up zone defense to keep the Indians to outside shooting. That method appeared to backfire as Towns County rained 3-Pointers to keep the score rolling through the first half and go to the break Towns County 32 Coosa 21. Layne Rouse scored three of Towns County’s seven 3-Pointers. Going into the final period, Towns County held a strong 51-to-39 lead over Coosa and continued to create scoring opportunities with offensive and defensive rebounds over the Eagles. Towns County outscored Coosa 16-to-8 in the final period to seal the win. Towns County’s Zane Floyd led the Indians with 22 points. Coosa’s Joseph Richardson led all scorers with 25 points.
Towns County Men’s Basketball Coach Brian Hunnicut says Day 1 was a great day of basketball for the Indians and all participating teams.
Thursday (December 29th) Games : Towns County will face Rabun County in the 8:30PM Game. Coosa will play Hayesville in the 2:30PM Game.
