Where to receive COVID-19 shots in Towns County

HIAWASSEE, Ga – Residents of Towns County who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine can sign up at one of three places in the local community.

Only those in Phase 1A+ can receive the vaccine, so Healthcare workers (physicians, nurses, laboratory technicians, EMS personnel, environmental services, etc.), Residents and staff of long-term care facilities, Adults aged 65 and older, Law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders.

Vaccine supply is limited and by appointment only.

As of January 25, Towns’ seven-day averaged decreased by 35 percent, but the percentage of positives was 24.7, which was higher than previous averages. Also, fewer tests were taken during that time frame.

Ingles is taking appointments online as well.

The health department administers vaccines as well, but according to District 2’s website, they are currently at full capacity. They asked the public to monitor social media for when more appointments become available.
