HIAWASSEE, Ga. – Hundreds of classic vehicles are soon expected to roll into town to celebrate the 11th annual Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-In, Friday, July 11 through Sunday, July 13. The fun begins Thursday, July 10 at noon with a block party on Hiawassee Town Square, and later that evening, Sand Bar and Grille is scheduled to kick off the event with live music, followed by a welcome bash Friday evening, July 11 at Lake Chatuge Lodge. Two leisurely, classic caravan cruises will wind their way over the Appalachian hills and through the valleys Thursday morning and afternoon.
“Just think, this time next week you could be out in your favorite cruiser taking part in the first cruise of this year’s Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-in,” an event organizer wrote July 4 on social media. “That’s right on Thursday of next week there will be two organized cruises through the beautiful countryside of northeast (Georgia.) Both cruises will start out in Hiawassee, Georgia with one in the morning and the other after lunch time. Looking forward to seeing you at registration on the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds next Thursday where you will get more information on this years routes.”
Throughout the weekend, Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds will feature automotive vendors, a swap meet, live bands, Appalachian crafts, a pioneer village, folk show exhibits, an authentic moonshine still, and much more. A hot-rod parade will make its way down Main Street on Friday evening, from Mayors’ Park to the fairgrounds, at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for fairground events can be purchased at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds gate for $10. Children under 12 will be admiited free of charge with a paid adult.
