Local artists and galleries join Arts Tour 2019

HIAWASSEE, Ga. – The 2019 Arts Tour is scheduled for June 7 – 9, with area artists and galleries displaying their specialties throughout the region. The self-guided tour guides visitors through Towns, Union, White, Habersham, and Rabun counties, including the backroads of Clay County, N.C.
Pam Coste of Artworks Gallery in Hiawassee will demonstrate paper bead crafting on Friday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Author Marsha Barnes, will be available fo rbook signings from 2 to 4 p.m. On Saturday, June 8, Artist Paul Canup will demonstrate pastel drawings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on Sunday, June 9, Deb Sellers will present mosaic demonstrations from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Olive Tree Art Center in Blairsville
In Young Harris, Mary Zoller Lightner will open her studio, Class Act Glass, for guests to tour. “I’m so excited to be a part of this,” Lightner said. “I’d like to see this area attract more artists.”
In Blairsville, art demonstrations are scheduled at Sundance Gallery, Olive Tree Art Center, and Landworks Glass & Fiber Studio at Lasso the Moon Alpaca Farm. The semi-annual tour will return in November and takes place Friday, June 7, from 1 to 5 p.m,, Saturday, June 8, from 10 am to 5 p.m., and Sunday, June 9 from1 to 4 p.m.
Shoppers will have an opportunity to bring home handcrafted work from painters, potters, folk art, jewelry, mixed media, metal, photography, furnishings, fiber, wood, and other art forms. Visitors can choose more than 40 locations in the region, including lodging and dining, by following Art Tour signs. A map is available online at artstour.org.
