HIAWASSEE, Ga. – On Wednesday, Sept. 26, Towns County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Highway 76, east of Hiawassee, in the area of Scataway Road.
Upon arrival, deputies located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a trauma unit for treatment by emergency medical responders.
The shooter was identified as Jacob Bowman, 41, of Hiawasssee.
Bowman was charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault in reference to the shooting.
According to Towns County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was considered domestic violence in nature.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Towns County Sheriff’s Office continues to pursue an active investigation.
The case will be referred to the Enotah Circuit District Attorneys’ Office for prosecution.
Bowman is presumed innocent until guilt is proven in a court of law.
