Mr. Karl Louis Scharnberg age 69 of Posey Rd. Young Harris passed away peacefully on Saturday October 28, 2017 at his home following an extended illness.

Karl was born on May 7, 1948 in Knoxville, TN., the son of the late Louis and Violet (Wessell) Scharnberg. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War. Karl loved riding motorcycles on the Blue Ridge Parkway with his Delta Buddies, building and flying remote control air planes and traveling with his wife his wife. He went to the gym for the past forty two years almost every day. Karl was a true companion for the past forty two years and was a very humble person with a lot of dry wit. Karl was a member of Sharp Memorial Church.

Surviving Mr. Scharnberg are his loving wife and best friend of forty two years, Cherri Suber Scharnberg of Young Harris, two brothers, Ric and David Scharnberg of Atlanta, their traveling buddies, Ben and Peggy Lilly of Hiawassee, Billy and Jane Snipes of Young Harris, Bill and Janet Zimmerman of Hayesville, a host of his church family, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 11, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Sharp Memorial Church with Rev. David Tinsley officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. with Military Honors conducted by the US Army. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family request that donations may be made to the Sharp Memorial Church for the Pastors Discretionary Fund or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Karl’s memory. The family will meet with friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
