BREAKING: Vehicle Accident Results in Helicopter Transport

Hiawassee, GA – A 911 call was dispatched to first responders shortly after 10:30 a.m. this morning, September 20, in response to a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of Upper Bell Creek Road.

An older male, driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV), collided with a tree and extrication by Towns County Fire and Rescue was required in order to free the driver from the vehicle.

The driver was rushed by ambulance to the helicopter landing zone at Old City Hall in Hiawassee and transported by Air Life for medical treatment.

The driver’s identity, the extent of his injuries, and the cause of the accident are unknown at this time.

Georgia State Patrol is investigating and the driver’s name will be released once the family has been notified.
