Jennie Chinnici: Obituary

Jennie Chinnici, 95, of Hendersonville, NC and Hiawassee, Ga. passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at The Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, July 27, 1922 daughter of the late Pietro D’Agostino and the late Caterina Truzzolino D’Agostino. She lived in Garden, City, New York from 1955 to 1989 before retiring to Hendersonville. Mrs. Chinnici was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Rosario J. Chinnici, a sister, Rose Mirabile, six brothers, John, Peter, Ignatius, Salvatore, Anthony and Joseph D’Agostino and son-in-law Philip H. Hancock. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Survivors include, children, Marie Hancock of Hiawassee, GA, Kathleen Chinnici of Fletcher, NC and Jane Chinnici of Hiawassee, GA, brother Ronald D’Agostino of South Amboy, NJ, three grandchildren, Jennifer Chinnici, Dennis Hancock and his wife Alice, Steven Hancock and his wife Jo Ellen, five great grandchildren, Nick Hancock, Drew Hancock, Megan Hancock, Vika Hancock and Zhenya Hancock, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Memorial services and a celebration of Jennie’s life will be announced and held at a later date. Interment will be in St. Clare’s Haven located at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Blairsville, Ga.
