Ms. Shannon Mae Walters: Obituary

Ms. Shannon Mae Walters, age 44, of Young Harris, Georgia passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 following a brief illness. Shannon was born on June 3, 1973 in Boulder, Colorado to Victor and Mary Walters. She studied clinical psychology at San Diego State, studied psychology at Alliant International University obtaining her Masters degree and completing all requirements for her doctorate except the dissertation. She was a member of Phi Beta Pi sorority and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Shannon loved to make people smile. Shannon lit up the room when she walked in. She loved her friends and kept in close contact with all of them. Her sudden departure has left a huge hole in the hearts of her parents and friends. She was proud of her son and a devoted mother. She is survived by her parents, her son, Bobby Joe Kidd III “Trey”; brother, Nicholas Wellmon “Nick” of Young Harris, Georgia; and sister Theodora Wellmon “Teddi” of California.

Visitation: Friday, July 14, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church from 12:00 – 2:00 PM

Memorial Service: Friday, July 14, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mike Youngblood and Rev. Bradley Thomas officiating.

Music provided by Bobby Taylor, Rita Bradshaw and Ann Chapman

Interment: Following the service at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
