Mrs. Vada Lee Hughes, age 75, of Young Harris, GA passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Chatuge Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Hughes was born on November 19, 1941 in Hiawassee, GA, the daughter of the late John Chastain and Nancy Arrowood Chastain Vada was a lifelong resident of Towns County. She loved the lord, her family and her host of church family. Vada was a dear friend and a comfort to a lot of people. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Revival Baptist Church. Preceding Mrs. Hughes in death are her beloved husband Roy Hughes in 1991, brother Devero Chastain, brother Richard Chastain, brother Paul Chastain, brother Archie Chastain, sister Cora Kindy, sister Florence Canup, and sister Georgia Chastain.

Surviving Mrs. Hughes are step-son Charles Hughes of Alpharetta, GA, step-son and wife Sammy and Juanita Hughes of Young Harris, GA, brother and sister-in-law Freeman and Ann Chastain, of Blairsville, GA, brother and sister-in-law Tommy and Eloise Chastain of Young Harris, GA, grandchildren Sabrina Thomas, Missy Mize, David Taylor, Tim Taylor, Christopher Vinez, and Gene Vinez,19 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great- Great grandchild, and many other friends and relatives also survive.

A funeral service for Mrs. Hughes will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 2:00PM at the Revival Baptist Church in Young Harris, with the Rev. Tommy Seay and Rev. Tim Renshaw officiating. A eulogy will be provided by Kerry Dills. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Paul Hamilton, Scott Harris, Kenneth Bradley, Kevin Garrett, Tony Young, and Allan Blevins. Interment will follow at the Old Union Cemetery in Young Harris. Special music will be provided by Sammy Hughes and the Revival Singers. Mrs. Hughes will lay in state one hour prior to the beginning of the service. The family will receive friends Friday, June 16, 2017 from 6:00PM-9:00PM at the funeral home.
