Phyllis C. Edwards, 71, of Young Harris, Georgia passed away at her home on Thursday January 5, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Edwards was born in Macon, Georgia on February 2, 1945 to the late Rev. Horace W. & Willie Ruth Smith Chapman. Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother Horace “Woody” Chapman. She was employed by Edwards Medical Practice and had retired from Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. Phyllis served the Lord all of her days playing the accordion, piano, & organ in many churches. She also made two trips to Russia with her dad while passing out Bibles and witnessing to the people she met along the way. These trips proved to be very fruitful. Phyllis loved living in the mountains where she said each day was different. She was of the Baptist faith and attended New Life Church in Hayesville, NC .

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Lee Roy Edwards, five sons Allen Edwards of St Marys, GA, Kevin & Vickie Edwards of Savannah, GA, Keith & Christina Edwards of Galt, CA, Dr. Tracy & Jessica Edwards of Young Harris, GA, Justin & Destiny Edwards of Warner Robins, GA, one daughter Denise & Victor Wood of Cleveland, GA, and one brother Paul Chapman of Ft. Valley, GA. Fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, along with a host of other family and friends also survive.

Viewing will be Saturday, January 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services for Phyllis will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Carroll, Paul Chapman, & Dr. Tracy Edwards officiating. Special music will be provided by Paul Chapman and Dr. Tracy Edwards. Burial will follow in the Meadow View Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Josiah Edwards, Seth Edwards, Vic Davis, Tommy Mayfield, John Webb, & Bob Dolven.
