Fantasy Football, or Fantasy Politics?

Opinion

Opinion by George McClellan:

An interesting question was asked recently in a NYT article: is Fantasy Football a tawdry example of wicked gambling or is it simply an exercise in fledging capitalism? Should we be concerned that gambling is going on using the Internet, or is it really free enterprise?

The question came up because a practitioner of Fantasy Football bragged he had made over $100,000 playing the game and he had worked hard for it. He likened it to the stock market where buying and selling for profit is not a gamble but a calculated risk based on good intelligence. He said gambling was where one simply relies on the chance roll of the dice or the turn of a card with no effort made by the player to gather data or analyze its implication. These players, in the end, will invariably lose it all to the house. Card counters who gamble will quickly find themselves thrown abruptly out on the street. Fantasy footballers will collect their earnings.

Politically, for democrats, the nonsense going on about recounts, who won the popular vote and threats to electors, etc., exposes their position as fantasies. The whole Democrat party has been a socialist fantasy that maintained their primacy over ignorant voters and establishment Republicans by pretending they held the values of the American people closer to their bosom than those wicked, untrustworthy conservative Republicans. November 8, put an end to that fantasy. It also revealed the untrustworthy conservative Republicans. Pity!

Dr. Jill Stein, in her recount obsession, drove a stake into Hillary’s rotten heart while garnering more millions of dollars than she ever made in her campaign. But, like a good Fantasy Footballer, Jill Stein hedged her bets and came out a winner, financially anyways, while delivering to Hillary, her death blow. Hillary lived in a fantasy world driven by hope, not by skillful calculation. She lived by the turn of a card and the roll of a dice. She bet on the house and lost.

So, once again, Americans have been treated to an important lesson in political gaming. The house rarely loses, or shouldn’t, but Hillary did, because politics are no longer about ideas but how one placed their bets. If corruption as a lifestyle is to succeed, it must be protected. In its protection role, the main stream media went “all in” for Hillary, lost decisively and now even they, having lost their credibility, can’t cover their bets.

The Democrat Party played as though they didn’t even need to place bets because the fix was in. Hillary was the one, it was her turn, how can she lose? Clearly, they didn’t count on the ignorant masses of middle America who bet against the house.

Imagine, if you will, standing at the craps table, loaded dice in your hand and suddenly, in walks the house bouncer (Trump), snatches up your dice, gives you a fresh pair and tells you to roll. The Democrats, all in, threw the dice and have been shown the door.

The fantasy political crowd, media included, haven’t recovered from the shock of their devastating loss. Like jousting at windmills, they are now mounting attacks against the system they previously thought they had perverted, the one they fumbled away. They face decades of wilderness living and the prospect is galling. As expected, the main stream media have all entered the deranged zone where nothing they say makes cognitive sense and where screaming predictions of impeachment, resignation or assassination against Trump, the truly great Fantasy political player, seem normal. They can’t believe they lost. They’re deranged!

Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, let’s make America great again. (30 Nov 2016).
