Mr. John Henry Gibson age 58 of Gibson Rd., Young Harris passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the Kennestone Hospital following a brief illness. John was born on April 30, 1958 in Hiawassee, GA., the son of Ruby Grant Gibson and the late Roland Gibson. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. He was a truck driver for close to 30 years. John was always willing to help anyone who called upon him. It brought him joy to help others. He would try to fix anything and never wanted to give up. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a loving husband, son, father, brother and grandfather. John was a member of Many Forks Baptist Church.

He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his loving wife and best friend of thirty eight years, Judy Stuman Gibson of Young Harris, his mother, Ruby Gibson McClure of Young Harris, one daughter and son in law, Jenna and Brandon Anderson of Young Harris, two brothers and one sister in law, Charles and Gladys Gibson of Young Harris, Melvin Gibson of Young Harris, one sister and brother in law, Judy and Chuck Albury of Young Harris, two grandchildren, Braylee and Jaiden Anderson, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 31, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Many Forks Baptist Church with the Rev. Jonathan Adams officiating. John will lay in state at the church from 1-2:00 pm on Wednesday. Special music will be presented by Jonathan Adams. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Chad, Cody and Jesse Gibson, T.J. Shook, Sean Spade and Ken Davis. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Many Forks Baptist Church Cemetery fund in John’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:30-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
