Joann K. Townsend, age 75 of Young Harris, Georgia passed away on December 23, 2016.  Joann was born in Young Harris on May 20, 1941. Joann was preceded in death by parents Ray E. and Inez Kuykendoll Townsend; brother, Reggie Townsend; sister, Kathy Prather; nieces, Kimberly Clayton and Gracie Townsend; brothers-in-law Jerry Prather and Gerald Messer.   She is survived by two sisters, Beverly Messer and Patricia Clayton; sister-in-law, Mary Townsend; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Banister Funeral Home
