PRESS RELEASE – On June 3, 2024, the Towns County Sheriff’s Office Investigators received a complaint regarding child molestation of a 13 year old victim.

Investigation revealed that the victim had been molested since the child was 9 years old.

The molestation occurred in Towns County and other jurisdictions.

On June 3rd the suspect, Tanner Boyd, 32, of Hiawassee was arrested for several counts of rape and aggravated sodomy.

On Monday March 31st, Tanner Boyd plead guilty to aggravated child molestation in both Towns and White County, receiving a sentence of life, serving 25 years.

Towns County Sheriff Ken Henderson commends the hard work, dedication, and training for the Investigators who worked this sensitive case and bringing the suspect to justice with a conviction.
