TOWNS COUNTY, Ga. – Caleb Avery Hughes, a 24 year old Blairsville man has been arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault stemming from an incident that occurred on Friday night, October 11 at the Sand Bar on Hwy. 76.
Hughes entered a vehicle in the parking lot that had three passengers in it with a gun. A struggle ensued resulting in one male being shot in the leg and Hughes shot in the arm. Two other females one being the estranged girlfriend of Hughes who were also in the vehicle were not injured.
Both males were transported to North East Georgia Medical Center and released on Sunday.
Again Sheriff Ken Henderson would like to thank the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and their crime scene specialist, the Georgia State Patrol and the Young Harris College Police Department for their assistance.
The case is still considered active and ongoing and Hughes is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
