Driver turns self in after Hiawassee hit and run

HIAWASSEE, Ga. – FetchYourNews (FYN) received information regarding a hit and run, occurring shortly before 11 p.m. last night, Saturday, July 6, west of the Valero gas station on State Route 76 in Hiawassee.

A 23 year old Hispanic male pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Union General Hospital for medical treatment.

The driver of the vehicle, who has not been identified by FYN at this time, later turned themself in to law enforcement at the Towns County Detention Center. FYN contacted Hiawassee Police Department for additional details, and will provide further information surrounding the incident as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Hiawassee Police Department informed that the case was turned over to Georgia State Patrol for investigation, and no arrests were made by the city agency.
