HIAWASSEE, Ga. – Save-A-Lot food store will soon be closing its doors, providing short notice for nine employees and countless shoppers. The reduced-price market is scheduled to close for business as early as April 3 or as late as April 6.
A store supervisor told FYN that notice was given to staff Saturday, March 16, leaving little time to secure employment elsewhere. The supervisor shared concern for seniors on fixed incomes and EBT recipients that depend on the store’s low prices.
Save-A-Lot has served Hiawassee customers since 2013. Prior to Save-A-Lot, the plaza housed Dill’s grocery, operated by the same owner.
