HIAWASSEE, Ga. – A boating accident on Lake Chatuge claimed the life of a Dawsonville man Saturday, March 16.
Danny Duff, 59, was involved in a two boat collision at approximately 7:15 a.m. shortly after launch.
Towns County authorities reported that the boats involved in the accident were transported to Towns County Fire and Rescue Station 2 in Young Harris, GA, in order to stage reinactment. Georgia Department of Natural Resources is in the process of an investigation. Duff was transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner’s office for evaluation.
Duff was a member of a White County bass fishing club, visiting Lake Chatuge with fellow anglers. An emergency official informed that Duff’s boat launched from the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds lake ramp, and was headed in a northwestern direction when the fatal impact occurred.

Can we just put in speed limits on the Lake Chatuge to keep from becoming Lake Lanier. No need for that rate of speed on this or any lake.
It was not about his speed. My father knew how to drive a boat. He has been driving for over years. If you could please keep those comments to yourself.
Praying for comfort for the family in Jesus name. No speed limits are needed.
Danny was a good christain man and he died doing what he loved, fishing.
