Updated: Local woman sought for attempted murder, considered armed and dangerous

HIAWASSEE, Ga. –

UPDATED: OFFICIAL TOWNS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE:On Saturday evening September 8th Towns County Sheriffs Deputies responded to Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee Georgia in reference to a male subject who was brought to the hospital with a bullet wound to the chest. The victim was identified as William Craig Henderson of Young Harris Georgia. The victim was air lifted from Chatuge Regional Hospital to another medical facility with a trauma center. The victim remains in stable condition.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Crystal LeAnn Carter is asked to call the Towns County Sheriff’s Office

Towns County Sheriff’s Investigators were called to the hospital to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident. Upon investigating the incident, the Investigators identified and secured warrants on Crystal LeAnn Carter age 37 of Hiawassee Georgia for the following:

1 Count of Attempted Murder
1 Count of Aggravated Assault

Crystal Carter upon dropping off the victim at Chatuge Regional Hospital, left driving the victim’s Chevrolet Tahoe. A lookout was placed on the Tahoe and the suspect. The vehicle was found abandoned later Saturday night in the parking lot of the Marathon station on Highway 75 North in Hiawassee. Investigators determined that the suspect Crystal Carter left the Marathon station in a red Ford pickup that belonged to the suspect. Investigators following leads Sunday afternoon located the red Ford pickup at a residence in Clay County North Carolina.

The suspect Crystal LeAnn Carter is considered armed and dangerous. She is believed to be in the Hiawassee Georgia and Hayesville North Carolina area. Towns County Sheriff’s Office request that anyone who has information to her whereabouts call Towns County 911 or Towns County Sheriff’s Office at 706-896-4444.

FYN has learned that Carter is still at large. On Saturday, Sept. 8, Carter alledgedly shot William “Craig” Henderson in the chest with a .22 handgun. FYN is awaiting an official press release from Towns County Sheriff’s Office.(See above)

Towns County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding the whereabouts of Crystal LeAnn Carter. Carter, a Towns County resident, and a suspect in an assault that occurred on Saturday, Sept. 8.

According to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office, Carter is likely armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
