Sheriff’s Office recovers $20,000 in stolen property

HIAWASSEE, Ga. – Towns County Sheriff’s Office investigators recovered approximately $20,000 in stolen property, following a reported burglary that occurred on Fodder Creek Road, Aug. 15. An estimated $10,000 in silver was retrieved, in addition to firearms.

The majority of the stolen property was located on Friday, Aug. 24, in a wooded area within the confines of the Swallow Creek Wildlife Management area.

According to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office, a U.S. Forest Ranger assisted with the recovery of a firearm, along with additional miscellaneous items.

The recovery of the stolen property occurred after a multi-agency manhunt began on Aug. 22, leading to the apprehension of two suspects whom fled on foot following a traffic stop.

Shaun Ewing, 36, Hiawassee, has been charged with the following crimes:

– One Felony Count Burglary

– 16 Felony Counts Theft by Receiving

 

Sandy Pate, 29, Hiawassee, has been charged with the following crimes:

– 16 Felony Counts Theft by Receiving

 

Bobbi LeAnne Salon, 37. Hiawassee, has been charged with the following crime:

– One Misdemeanor Count Theft by Receiving

 

The cases have been forwarded to Enotah Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Towns County Sheriff’s Office extends appreciation to the following agencies for providing assistance:

Hiawassee Police Department, Georgia Wildlife Resources Department, Georgia State Patrol, U.S. Forest Service, Towns County 911, Towns County Fire and Rescue, along with the residents in the area of Upper Bell Creek.
