Oaks Lakeside Kitchen featured in “Georgia Eats” as a plate locals love

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Oaks Lakeside Kitchen is receiving recognition from the Georgia Department of Economic Development Tourism Division (GDEcD) list of “100 Plates Locals Love,” which will be featured in Georgia Eats culinary guide. The magazine is distributed to Visitor information Centers statewide. The publication is in it’s fourth year, and provides restaurant recommendations for Georgia visitors.

“There is no better way to immerse yourself in Georgia’s history and culture than through our unique food and dining offerings, GDEcD Deputy Tourism Commissioner Kevin Langston said, “Whether you’re looking for local favorites or finding the best food festival for a weekend away, Georgia Eats is the perfect guide to delicious experiences you can’t find anywhere else.”

Oaks Lakeside Kitchen is located beside sparkling Lake Chatuge, next to the Ridges Resort, in Young Harris. The restaurant describes its cuisine as “southern food with a twist.” The menu features classic Southern favorites, such as shrimp and grits with white wine-garlic sauce, and a fresh twist on more traditional dishes, for example, sweet tea-marinated fried chicken.

In order to be awarded a space in “100 Plates Locals Love,” statewide nominations are submitted via Explore-Georgia.org and a panel of judges whittle down the list to a hundred final nominees. The list has received rave reviews from visitors, and is likened to personal recommendations that Georgians would share with friends and family.

Shani Hedden Palmer of Chatanooga, Tennessee, describes Oaks Lakeside Kitchen as a “beautiful, scenic, romantic locale, (with) excellent food and decadent cocktails, plus fabulous live music.”

Oaks Lakeside Kitchen is located at 3499 US Highway 76 in Young Harris, and is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 7 am –11 am, and Wednesday through Sundays , 7 am -2 pm, and 5 pm – 10 pm.
