Mr. John Robert Troy, age 73, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Mr. Troy was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 9, 1944 to the late David Sterling and Loda (Wilson) Troy. He had been a resident of Hiawassee for the past seven years. John was in the United States Army from 1964 to 1968 during which time he served a tour in Korea. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a proud grand and great grandfather. His hobbies included book puzzles, word searches and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Way Troy of Hiawassee; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Dee Troy of Hiawassee; daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Chris Wickizer of Middleburg, FLA; grandchildren, Mary Beverly, Emma Wickizer, Winnie Troy and Noah Wickizer; great grandchildren, Jackson Beverly, Jonathan Wickizer, and Conner Beverly; four nieces and two nephews. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Holly Hill Cemetery in Blairsville, Georgia. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
