Joann Phillips: Obituary

Mrs. Joann Phillips, age 80, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 22, 2018 following a brief illness. Joann was born in Hiawassee, Georgia on October 30, 1937 to the late Charlie and Ruth(Rogers) Miller. She was a member of Many Forks Baptist Church. Joann had a wonderful sense of humor and loved laughter. She worked for many years as a seamstress and enjoyed gardening in her spare time. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years in 1982, Mr. Richard Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Taylor Phillips and brothers FH Miller and Troy Miller. Joann is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Marianna Phillips of Hiawassee, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Susan Phillips of Hiawassee, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Trannis and Sheila Miller of Hiawassee, Georgia; grandson Austin Phillips and wife Amanda of Hayesville, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Jaden Phillips, Colton Parker and Austin Bradley; a host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Visitation: Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church

Service: Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 5:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Bradley Thomas officiating.

Interment: Following the service at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery

Pallbearers: Heath Kimsey, Kirk Kimsey, Michael Rogers, Johnny Rogers, Austin Phillips, Travis Miller, William Shook and Adam Shook

Honorary Pallbearers: Pete Kimsey and Randy Shook

Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
