Mrs. Martha Sue Kelley Melton: Obituary

Mrs. Martha Sue Kelley Melton, age 72, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017.

Martha was born in Blairsville, Georgia on December 14, 1944 to the late Robert and Irene (Hughes) Kelley. Martha enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She loved baking, canning, cooking, and in her spare time, quilting and completing word search puzzles. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Melton is survived by her husband of 49 years, James Melton. James and Martha were married on March 29, 1968. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Christie Melton of Hiawassee, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Michael Baxter of Blairsville, Georgia; brother, Bill Kelley of Blairsville, Georgia; sister, Joyce Byers of Blairsville, Georgia; grandchildren, Maci Walls, Chase and Kaila Reece, and Katie and Haley Baxter; Alicia Strange, Mama Martha’s special “daughter”; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive.

Visitation: Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Banister Funeral Home

Service: Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hedden officiating. Music provided by Danita Kennedy and Debbie Owenby.

Interment: Following the service at Enota Cemetery in Hiawassee, Georgia.

Pallbearers: Jacky Jones, L.G. Hamilton, Junior Chastain, Josh Hedden, Speed Hunter, David Ledford, Johnny Welch, and Leon Bradshaw.
