Mr. J.W. Frasure: Obituary

J.W. Frasure, 84, of Hayesville, NC passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at home with his wife and daughters.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23. 2017 at Sharp Memorial Methodist Church, 1114 Main Street, Young Harris, GA.

Mr. Frasure was born January 14, 1933 in Marietta, GA, a son of John and Pearl Frasure.  He married Florence Stakes on November 10, 1953, in Atlanta, GA.

Surviving are Jay’s wife, Florence S. Frasure; three daughters, Kay Frasure Gore of Gainesville, GA and her husband, Larry, and their daughter, Jacqueline Halfacre of Brooklet, GA and her husband, Jonathan, and their three children Adalyn, Allyson, and Jonathan; daughter Gail Frasure Bernath of Simpsonville, SC, and her husband, Richard and their children Blake, Brandon, Sarah, Georgia, Harrison, Daniel, and Jessica Hendrix (David) and their daughter Wren;  daughter Tricia Frasure Lane of Tampa and her husband, Ken, and their children, Alyssa and Kenneth; brother-in-law Eddie Stakes and his wife Jane and their daughter Catherine, son Daniel and his wife Tami; brother-in-law, Freddie Stakes and his wife Jackie; nephew Mark Shanabrough and his wife Sandee; and Jay’s dog Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Geneva Shanabrough and brother-in-law Shanny Shanabrough.

Mr. Frasure served in the Army during the Korean War.  He later worked for 3M Mining and Manufacturer and Kyanize Paint Company.  1971 He started a manufacturer’s representative business selling paint related items to paint industries.  His 30-year business success was due to his wife Florence, Fred Stakes (brother-in-law), Harry Gibbs, Travis Dyer, and Chuck Greene.

For the last 11 years Mr. Frasure was a member of Sharp Memorial Methodist Church.  Mr. Frasure was an avid golfer for over 50 years where he was fortunate to have the opportunity to play at some of the world’s most famous courses.  Mr. Frasure had a deep love for his family, friends, dogs and time with all on Lake Chatuge.  He was known as “Daddy” to his daughters, “Paw-Paw” to his grandchildren, and “Jay Bird” to golfing friends. He will be forever missed.
