Hiawassee, GA – After an extensive investigation by Towns County Sheriff’s Office, Barbara Parker, 44, of Hiawassee, Georgia, a former employee of Legacy Link, Inc., was arrested on Friday, September 1, 2017 and charged with seven (7) counts of Financial Transaction Card Fraud.
A report was made to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office in June of 2017 in reference to the misuse of funds related to the operation of the Towns County Senior Center, operated by Legacy Link, Inc.
Parker was terminated by Legacy Link prior to completion of an independent audit of the spending practices at the Towns County Senior Center.
Once the audit was complete, the findings were forwarded to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
Sheriff’s investigators, upon completion their investigation and consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, obtained seven (7) warrants, charging Barbara Parker with Financial Transaction Card Fraud.
The case will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution and additional charges are likely.
