Mae Garrett McKinney, age 89, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on April 5, 2017.
was born in Towns County on September 19, 1927 to the late Joseph (Jay) Garrett and Ella Mae Eller Garrett. She loved her flowers and working in her garden.
Mae is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Carroll and Betty Cabe McKinney of Hiawassee, Georgia and Keith and Brenda Smith McKinney of Hiawassee, Georgia; two granddaughters, Anisa Tonjee and husband Jason Roberts and Kembra Leigh and husband Evan Hughes; great grandsons, Elijah Shane Roberts, Brenton Tate Roberts, and Kampton McKinney Hughes; great granddaughter, Lila Grace Roberts; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Banister Funeral Home from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Eller officiating. Music will be provided by Bobby Ellis and Martha Barrett. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband of fifty-five years, Jack McKinney. Banister Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
