A portion of GA I-85 collapsed last Thursday. GA I-85 is one of the busiest interstates in the United States. According to all reports a homeless man by the name of Basil Eleby, invited two of his friends to join him in smoking some crack under a bridge on Interstate 85. Under this bridge the state stored not combustible but highly flammable PVC type tubing. At approximately 6:30 PM, for reasons unknown Eleby sets fire to a chair next to this flammable pipe. Within 30 minutes the fire burns to a point that the heat is high enough to cause a section of the overpass to become weak and collapse. Between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM firefighters on the scene extinguished the flames. The following day the police arrest the three suspects and added the charge of arson to Basil Eleby. Eleby has been arrested 19 times.
A lot of questions arise here about how a homeless man, who has been arrested 19 times, is smoking crack next to flammable pipes at a time line of 6:30 – 8:00 PM and a portion of a major interstate collapses with no one harmed. Then the police immediately get their man.
