Mr. Otis Howard Burdette: Obituary

Mr. Otis Howard Burdette age 75 of Young Harris passed away peacefully at his home on Monday March 13, 2017 following a brief illness.

Mr. Burdette was born on September 5, 1941 in Young Harris, GA., the son of the late Otis Howard Burdette II and the late Cecil Corn Burdette Kelley . He was a veteran of the US Marines. Otis enjoyed knife making, welding, building things and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and also a brother, Charles Burdette. Otis was a member of Woods Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Burdette are his loving wife of fifty six years, Linda Sue Marshall Burdette of Young Harris, two daughters and one son in law, Kay and Dr. Laneau Hayes, Betty Sharon Burdette all of Young Harris, three brothers and sisters in law, John and Angie Kelley, Michael and Wanda Kelley all of Young Harris, Richard and Karen Kelley of Hayesville, one sister and brother in law, Ann and Steve Powell of Summerville, NC., six grandchildren, Emma (Jonathan) Chenoweth, Jonathan (Sierra) Hayes, Nathaniel and Sara Hayes, KaTaceya (Jason) LaManna and Michael E. ( Linzee) Taylor II, four great grandchildren, Halli Wood, Brystal Williams, Zane LaManna and Cayden Millian, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 15, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Michael Worthy. Eulogies will be given by Michael Kelley, John Kelley, Richard Kelley and Emma Chenoweth. Special music will be presented by Hiawassee Opry Quartet. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jonathan and Nathaniel Hayes, Jonathan Chenoweth, Jason King, Douglas Burdette and Jack Kelley. Interment will follow in the Woods Grove Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Appleseeds Learning Centerhttp://www.appleseedslearningcenter.org/support-us.html in memory of Mr. Burdette.
