The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Mr. Billie Leon Bierce, age 81 of Young Harris who passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017.
Mr. Bierce was born April 26, 1935 in Sarasota, Florida to the late Paul & Leona (Young) Bierce. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator by trade, and retired from the Union County Transfer Station. Mr. Bierce was a fisherman and loved to cast net and deep sea fish. At one time he had built his own 32 ft. commercial fishing vessel (the “Carla Mae”) which he Captained. Mr. Bierce was a veteran of the United States Army, and he was a member of North Mt. Zion Church of God in Hiawassee.
Surviving family include his daughter & son-in-law, Ronda & Ken “Spike” Kremblas of Young Harris; son, Ronald Bierce of Young Harris; brother & sister-in-law, Buford & Norma Bierce; sister, Phoebe Ann Sullivan; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Alberta Downing Bierce; his parents; infant brother, Freddie Bierce; and brother-in-law, Harold Sullivan.
