Miss Grace O’Kelley Cartledge: Obituary

Miss Grace O’Kelley Cartledge age 79 of Hiawassee passed away peacefully on Monday Feb. 6, 2017 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness. Miss Cartledge was born on July 27, 1927 in Franklin, NC., the daughter of the late Cleveland Cartledge and the late Addie Barnard Cartledge. Grace loved golf (attended The Masters golf tournament the last 40+ years), the Kentucky Derby for many years, also, bridge, and loved life to its fullest. (Doubt she ever met a stranger.) She was a loving and caring person who was a friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents and also a nephew, Jeff Cartledge. Grace was a member of Central United Methodist Church.

Surviving Miss Cartledge are one brother Allen and his wife, Joyce Cartledge of Asheville, NC., nephew, Randy Cartledge of North Dakota, cousin, W.L. and Diane Hearne of Blacksburg, VA., her favorite dog and friend, Chloe , and many close friends and acquaintances.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday Feb. 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Big Sky Village in Hiawassee. The family will meet with friends following the services. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Towns County Humane Society in memory of Mrs. Cartledge.
