Mr. Ed Unger, age 76 of Young Harris, passed away Thursday January 5, 2017 at Chatuge Regional Hospital. Ed was a member of Union Hill United Methodist Church where he was a soloist. Ed loved to sing. He also wrote gospel songs and poetry. Ed also wrote Children’s Stories, but most often, love letters to his wife. He loved Georgia, especially the mountains and the people here.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Unger; sons, Steve Unger of Pennsylvania, Dave Unger of Sommers Point, NJ, Michael Unger of New Jersey, Jeffrey Rice of College Station, TX and daughter, Jennifer Rice of Boynton Beach, FL; and two brothers, James Unger of Annville, PA and Robert Unger of Atlanta, GA.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 10, 2017 at Union Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Katie Strals officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir.
