Mrs. Katie Wynne Waldroup: Obituary

The Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Hiawassee announces Funeral Services for Mrs. Katie Wynne Waldroup, age 97 of Hiawassee, who passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.

Mrs. Waldroup was born May 10, 1919 in Hiawassee, GA to the late Ed and Bell (Stroud) Hedden. A lifetime resident of the area. She was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Waldroup was a homemaker by profession and by heart. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, family was important to Mrs. Waldroup, and she loved them all unconditionally.

Survivors include: Daughter and Son-in-Law, Martha and Dewight Berrong of Hiawassee; Son, George Waldroup, Jr. of Hiawassee; Sisters, Patricia Plott of Blairsville and Ellen Wilson of Rogersville, TN; 5 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; and many Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George Ree Waldroup; her parents; and her siblings, Virginia Segars, Mary Shook, Joyce Mills, Douglas Hedden, Paul Hedden, Peggy McClure, Dottie Hedden, Kit Hedden, and Edward Hedden.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with the Rev. Larry Hedden officiating. Music will be provided by The Moss Family. Interment will follow in Osborn Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Tony Berrong, Darren Berrong, Evan Berrong, Jason Waldroup, Jim Bailey, and Russell Hedden. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from noon until the service begins.
