Mr. Truett Luther Foster: Obituary

Mr. Truett Luther Foster of Hiawassee passed away peacefully on Wednesday Dec. 14, 2016 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Foster was born on Sept. 22, 1928 in Hiawassee, GA., the son of the late Adam Foster and the late Hattie Nicholson Foster. He was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County. He retired from the GDOT after many years of service. Truett enjoyed fishing, gardening, rock collecting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles, two brothers, Willis and Daris Foster. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Truett was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Foster are his loving wife of fifty three years, Martha Gardener Foster, four children, Travis Foster, Sonya and Phillip Ivester, Aubrey Foster all of Hiawassee, Michael and Delores Foster of Cleveland, GA., one sister, Mildred Harper of Hiawassee, four grandchildren, Kotie, Stephanie, Chris and T.J., many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday Dec. 16, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Greg Bailey officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Travis, Chris, T.J., Mike and Aubrey Foster. Interment will follow in the Lower Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, donations may be to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in memory of Mr. Foster. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements. You may sign the family guest book and send condolences on line at www.mountainviewfuneralhome.com
