Myrtle Lougene Garrett: Obituary

Myrtle Lougene Garrett, age 96, of Hiawassee, GA passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Lougene was born on February 11, 1920 in Towns county to Loyd and Maude McKinney. She was of the Baptist faith belonging to Mt Zion Baptist Church.

She worked at Carolina Dress Plant for 20 years. She enjoyed working outside in her garden and flowers and talking to family and friends on the telephone. Lougene was dearly loved by her family and will be missed especially by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Edwin Davenport of Hiawassee, GA; sister Jimmie Turner of Cleveland, GA; grandchildren Karen Garrett of Hiawassee, GA; Ken and Samara Nicholson of Hiawassee, GA; Cindy Long of Hayesville, NC; great grandsons Bret and Jordan Long of Warne, NC; Dalton Long of Hayesville, NC; Patton Nicholson of Hiawassee, GA; step great granddaughters, Carly Coffey, Caitlyn Sheffield, Jamie and Brittany Ledford; great-great granddaughter Emorie Long and step great-great grandson Kason Smith. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents Loyd and Maude McKinney; husband Pat Garrett; son Otis Garrett; grandson Kevin Nicholson; sisters Ethel England and Helen Adkins.

Pallbearers: Ernie Davenport, Ken Nicholson, Bret Long, Dalton Long, Jarrel Turner and Patton Nicholson.

Honorary Pallbearer: Barney Thomas

Visitation: Friday, December 9th, 2016; 12:00PM until 2:00PM at Banister Funeral Home

Service: Friday, December 9th, 2016; 2:00PM at Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Seay officiating.

Interment: Mt Zion Baptist Church, Hiawassee, Georgia

Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia in charge of arrangements.
