Mrs. Dorothy Vaughan: Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy Vaughan age 76 of Young Harris passed away peacefully on Sunday October 30, 2016 in the Emory Johns Creek Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Vaughan was born on November 30, 1939 in Dalton, GA., the daughter of the late Clarence Massingill and the late Scottie Prater Massingill. Dorothy was a member of the Misty Mountain Quilters Guild. She loved sewing and gardening. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and also a brother, Larry Massingill. Dorothy attended Sharp Memorial Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Vaughan are her loving husband, Robert Vaughan of Young Harris. Two sons and two daughters in law, Russell and Laura Vaughan, Joe and Monica Vaughan, one daughter, Susan Brooks all of Gwinnett County. Two brothers and two sisters in law, Hugh and Frances Massingill of Resaca, GA., John and Juanita Massingill of Cartersville, one sister, Evelyn Crump of Calhoun, one sister in law, Bobbie Massingill of Oklahoma City. Five grandchildren, April and Alex Vaughan, Jordan and Patrick Brooks, London Vaughan. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 13th at 3:00 from the Sharp Memorial Methodist Church in Young Harris, Ga with the Rev. David Tinsley officiating. The family will meet with friends following the services. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrfcure.org) in Mrs. Vaughan’s memory.
