Mr. James B. Jones: Obituary

Mr. James B. Jones, age 85 of Hiawassee, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee.Mr. Jones was born August 26, 1931 in Blairsville, GA to the late Hoyt and Ethel Collins Jones. James was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church. He was a lifelong resident of the area and worked as a Brick Mason until his retirement. James loved Trout Fishing and Hunting. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Billye Bowers Jones, son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Pat Jones of Robbinsville, NC, son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Gail Jones of Hull, GA, son, Bryan Jones of Clermont, GA, sister, Wilma Groves of Blairsville, sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Robert Burnette of Suches, sister, Lorene Jones Turpin of Hiawassee, grandchildren, Phyllis Fuller, Paula Roberts, Sara Bird, and Rebecca Jeffers, and great grandchildren, Conor Fuller, Parker Roberts, Abigail Bird, and Aliza Jeffers.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven Taylor and Rev. Danny Byers officiating. Interment will follow in the Osborn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers: Jerry Nichols, Dale Penland, David Penland, Gene Penland, Dwight Wilson, and Harold Smith.

The family will receive friends at the McConnell Memorial of Hiawassee, Tuesday, October 11, 2016, 12:00 – 2:00 pm.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 235, 84 Church St., Hiawassee, GA 30546.
