Mr. Thomas Bush: Obituary

Mr. Thomas Bush, age 85, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, September 12, 2016 in Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee following a brief illness. Mr. Bush was born on December 22, 1930, a son of the late Thomas Reed Bush and the late Clara Shires Bush.

Thomas was born and raised on Long Island, New York, in the town of Patchogue. At the age of 14 he moved with his family to Lake Worth, Florida. There, he fell in love with baseball, and trained and tried out for the Chicago White Sox. As an adult he moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina, where, in the early 1960’s he was resident engineer for the firm Howard, Needles, Tammen and Bergendoff, and helped with the layout of Interstate 26 into Asheville. In the late 1960’s, he and his mother moved to the Hiawassee area following the sudden death of his father. He devoted his life to the care of his mother and never married. “Tommy” was a hard worker that paid attention to perfection. Always smiling, never complained, and doing what he felt in his heart was morally correct.

He is survived by friends and acquaintances, who came to know and love his private personality, especially his care giver and close friend Lisa Taylor, along with her family.

Per his request he wanted his final arrangements to be very private and wanted no memorial services.
