Mrs. Joan Grey Perry: Obituary

Mrs. Joan Grey Perry age 82 of Hiawassee passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 28, 2016 in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Perry was born on Dec. 11, 1933 in Norfolk, VA., the daughter of the late Alfred Henry Temple and the late Helen Barker Temple. Joan was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her church and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ivan Perry in 1998. Joan was a member of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Perry are one daughter and son in law, Kathleen and Joe Painter of Hiawassee, two grandchildren, Jonathan Neely of Boston, MA., Joseph and Jessica Painter of Blue Ridge, two great grandchildren, Lexie and Beatrix Painter, a host of her church family, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A family graveside service was held on Thursday June 30, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. David Tinsley officiating. A Celebration of Joan’s life will be held at a later date from her church, Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church and will be announced.
