Mrs. Ida Renda Benfield Barrett: Obituary

Mrs. Ida Renda Benfield Barrett, age 98 of Hiawassee, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. Mrs. Barrett was born February 11, 1918 in Towns County, to Henry Jasper Benfield and Ollie Hooper Benfield. She was a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Hiawassee. Mrs. Barrett was also a minister. She was an outstanding Christian woman whose love for Christ was instilled in everyone she met. Ida loved flowers and gardening as well as cooking. She spent much of her time reading her bible. Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Barrett; daughters, Laura Nell Barrett Jones and Jeanette Barrett Walls; grandson, David James Walls; great grandson, James David Walls; and two sisters, Lela Hopper and Evy Nelms.

Mrs. Barrett is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26 at the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Mike Jarrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Burch Cemetery. Pallbearers: Robbie Morton, Andrew Christensen, Ben Krokonko, Jeff Krokonko, Jimmy Krokonko and Dylan Walls.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m.
