Mr. Neil Wallace McCullough: Obituary

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mr. Neil Wallace McCullough, age 89, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, formerly of Hiawassee, Georgia, who passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 in Mt. Airy.

Mr. McCullough was born in Manistique, Michigan, on March 25, 1927, a son of the late William Wallace McCullough and the late Anna Irene Carlson McCullough. Mr. McCullough had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and later retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant. Neil was of the Lutheran faith. Besides his parents, he had also been preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Hodge McCullough, and a sister, Irene Helen Adams.

Surviving family members include a step-son, James Cushing, of Blairsville, Pennsylvania; and two step-daughters, Mary L. Cicero, of Hiawassee, and Sylvia J. Godfrey of Summerville, South Carolina; Ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild also survive, along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 11 a.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, with COL. Donald G. Smith (USAF, Ret.) officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hills Memory Gardens, in Hiawassee, with Full Military Honors presented by U.S. Air Force. The family will meet with friends on Saturday, May 28, 2016, before the funeral service, starting at 10 a.m.
