Mr. Thomas Frank Brooks: Obituary

Thomas Frank Brooks, age 70, of Hiawassee, Georgia, formerly of Andrews, died Saturday, May 7, 2016 in a Chattanooga, Tennessee hospital. He was a native of Cherokee County, but lived most of his life in Shreveport, Louisiana, before moving to Hiawassee, Georgia twelve years ago. He was a 1964 graduate of Andrews High School, where he was a star basketball player and his team is in the Andrews High School Hall of Fame. He had worked as a pharmacist for thirty-four years. He was a member of Andrews First Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Jeff and Cordie Ledford Brooks. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Brooks West and a brother, J.V. Brooks.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Mix Brooks; a daughter, Adrianne Parker and husband, Deryck of Goldsboro, North Carolina; a son, Pastor Chris Brooks and wife, Ashley of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters, Divola Brooks Frye and Alma Brooks Gray of Andrews; two brothers, Wade Brooks and wife, Judy, and Floyd Ray “Chub” Brooks and wife, June of Andrews; four grandchildren, Gracie and Paxton Parker, and C.J. and Maggie Brooks.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in the Andrews First Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Bobo and Pastor Chris Brooks officiating. The interment will be in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Allen, Eddie Adams, Mike Sheidy, John Gernert, Butch Sursavage, and Randall Stanley. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrews 1964 classmates.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.

Family requests memorials be made to Andrews First Baptist Church, PO Box 427, Andrews, North Carolina 28901.
