Mr. Henry Pope Parnell, age 86 of Young Harris passed away on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at Pruitt Health Care of Blue Ridge following an extended illness.
Mr. Parnell was born 1929 in Howellsville, NC., the son of the late Clarence Parnell and the late Sally Mercer Parnell. Henry loved fishing and always lending a helping hand to others. He loved his dog Spanky. He was a loving husband, step father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and also a brother, Mitchell Parnell. Mr. Parnell was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Parnell are his loving wife and best friend of fifty two years, Thelma Dorothea Oleson Parnell of Young Harris, two step sons, Walter (Rebecca) Nicklien of Young Harris, Jace Nicklien of Kaufman, TX., and step daughter Autumn (Donato) Mastroianni of Cheshire, MA. Three sisters, Clara McDaniel of Daytona Beach, FL., Annie Ree Kirby of Winston-Salem, NC., and Doris Cooper, three grandchildren, Jennifer Rennie, Tim and Marc Nicklien, two great grandchildren, Anthony and Joseph Rennie, many other relatives and friends also survive.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Pruitt Hospice of Blue Ridge in Henry’s memory.
