Joseph Ray Chastain: Obituary

Joseph Ray Chastain, age 90, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on August 08, 2015 at his home following a brief illness. He was born on February 02, 1925 to the late Tom and Martha (Berry) Chastain. Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law; Brenda and Larry Swanson of Hiawassee, GA, son and daughter-in-law; William Ray and Amy Chastain of Hiawassee, GA, sisters; May Gunner and Ada Bryson, grandchildren; Olivia and Tom Jern, Blake and Brittany Chastain, Brooke Chastain and Bria Chastain, great grandchildren; Bryer Chastain and Collin Jern, nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends also survive. The family received friends on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the chapel at Banister Funeral Home from 6:00PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from the Banister Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Bryson and Rev. Larry Forrester officiating. Interment followed at Mt Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiawassee, GA. Pallbearers were Lamar Chastain, R.L.Gunner, Terry Chastain, Herman Woods, Bruce Underwood, Jerry Rogers and Glen Chastain. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, GA in charge of arrangements.
