Mrs. Lois Lillian Parker age 89 of Young Harris passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday Oct. 16, 2016 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Parker was born on Feb. 1, 1927 in Towns County, the daughter of the late Alexander Shook and the late Lula Hyatt Shook. She was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County, Lois was a member of the Eastern Star. She loved quilting, gardening and cooking for her family get togethers. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben T. Parker in 1955, four brothers, Jack, T.J., Todd and J.W. Shook and two sisters, Minnie Mulkey and Vera Lee Gibson. Mrs. Parker was member of Old Brasstown Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Parker are two sons, Ben Parker of Hayesville, Trannis Parker of Tate, GA., two daughters and sons in law, Brenda and Charles R. Rich of Young Harris, Sandra and Rev. William Sisum of Blairsville, one brother, Ray Shook of Young Harris, two sisters and one brother in law, Betty Jo Sampson of Young Harris, Gertrude and Albert Graves of Murphy, twelve grandchildren, Deryck, Julie, Angela and Michael Parker, Selena Rich, Charlene Roberts, Sabrina Trantham, Robbie Rich, Chad, Scot, Heather and Heidi Sisum, twenty one great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her favorite human dog and companion, Radar, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at 4:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Rogers, Rev. Jack Cochran and Rev. William Sisum officiating. Special music will be presented by Jack Cochran, Amy Breedlove and Junior Phillips. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Chad, Scot, Jake and Jeremy Sisum, Arlis Seabolt, Robbie Rich and Davis Roberts. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Deryck, Alex and Michael Parker, Lane, Micah and Gage Sisum. Interment will follow in the Old Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband, Benn. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
